Social Responsibility

While we are busy creating exceptional commercial and retail spaces, we also understand we have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we operate and to help those doing it tough.

We’re proud to partner with the following community based, non-profit organisations to help improve the lives of those in need.

The Men’s Shed movement has now become one of the most powerful tools in addressing health and wellbeing and helping men to once again become valued and productive members of our community.

Southern Cross donates materials, tools and resources to The Australian Men’s Shed for Men to work on meaningful projects and contribute to the wider community.

The Starlight Foundation helps sick kids forget their illness and re-discover the joy of childhood. Since 1988, they’ve partnered with Australian health professionals to develop programs based on positive psychology principles that support the total care of sick children and teens.

Southern Cross Shopfitting volunteer their time to assist the Starlight Foundation set up and pack up for their annual Ultimate Treadmill Challenge raising funds for The Starlight Children’s Foundation & Cure EB Foundation. We also donate and attend the annual Starlight Ball which raises much needed funds to help seriously ill children in their time of need.

Sleep at The ‘G is an annual event which raises awareness and vital funds for the 6,000+ young people facing homelessness in our city.

A group of 10 Southern Cross Shopfitting team members took part in the 2018 Sleep At The ‘G event in 2018, taking a place in the top 20 teams, raising over $10,000 for the cause.

Southern Cross have a long standing history of involvement both within the community and in clubs. We are proud sponsors of the Carnegie Basketball Club which is a community club that provides children the opportunity participate and embrace the game of basketball.

The club provides children with a supportive environment that promotes positive social and community responsibilities including respect, fair and disciplined play and good sporting behavioural practices.

The Southern Cross team are proud to have a long standing history of involvement with the St Kilda Mums Charity who rehome preloved nursery goods to support Victorian families and ensuring families are happy healthy and safe.

In 2019 the Southern Cross team volunteered their time and donated supplies to build a new kitchen for their headquarters in Clayton and since 2015 have also regularly donated baby goods which can be rehomed to families in need.

Southern Cross is passionate about grass roots Aussie Rules Football and has a strong connection to the AFLW community. We currently sponsor Alyssa Bannan who was a South Morang junior and is now in her second year at the ALFW academy.

Alyssa is a leading player for the Northern Knights and leads the competition for both goals and marks. A five goal effort in the first game of the season followed up 2 further quality performances Alyssa will be hoping to be drafted into the ALFW at the end of the 2020.
